I am a 20 year old college student. I decided I want to start building a credit score. I’ve had a checking and savings account (with a debit card) with bank of america for about 3 years. Now I just saw online that I actually have a credit card account with BofA that I have never used. I found out today that i have $ 3000 available and APR of 13.74. So I used it today to buy an iPhone for $ 257. So should I pay charge over the next 6 months or year…will that build credit for me?

No. Pay off the balance in full. What will show up on a credit report is late payments. That’s what’s ruins credit scores.
13.74% is very high interest to be paying, pay in full or that phone will cost you much more. Good credit is using the card but paying it off in full each month and ON TIME.

Keep that credit card for a long time. This will also help build that credit score. The longer you have that one credit card, the higher your score will be.

Don’t forget, you can call Bank of America and ask them for a lower rate. Just a tip.

I have my first credit card through Chase Bank. Chase Freedom card. I’ve had it about 4 months and I’ve gone paperless with it. I’ve never been late before, but my due date was yesterday (the 15th) and I woke up this morning (the 16th) to a push notification on my iPhone that no payment had been received. I paid it at once. Does that count as a late payment? Will I get a fee? Will it hurt my credit? Or do they have a one or two day grace period? I’m trying to find the paperwork on it, but I’m in the middle of college Midterms right now and distracted.

ok so i was on you tube and i was looking at unboxing videos and i saw a video of an unboxing of a free iphone and i though it was no real than i want to that site and it wonted me to give credit card number so i new it was a scam so i was watching the video again and it was saying all this card info and i was thinking what do i have to lose so i went to the same site and than i did a offer and it was saying that it could not proses the card info so i was thinking it is fake so i turned off my computer and when to my room and than i got a call and he was asking about a card i thought it was a solicitor so i hung up thani was thinking about the card off of youtube and i got worried and they have not called back im 13 and i am scarred some one plz help me

Thinking of buying the new iPhone 4S but prices are very high so have come up with what I believe to be a way around this but just seeking confirmation that I have things right in my mind.
My plan is to take out a Tesco Credit Card which offers 0% on purchases for 15 months and then purchase an iPhone 4S direct from Apple on an unlocked contract. I will then use Giff Gaff as my service provider on a £10 monthly payg deal. In total then, the amount will be £499 + £150 for 15 months so £649 Dividied into a monthly amount by 15, it equals £43.27 a month.
Because this is 0% on purchases I shouldn’t be charged interest if I pay off £43.27 a month meaning I get a brand new phone with no upfront cost with 250 Any Network Minutes, Unlimited Texts and Unlimited Data for £43.27 a month.

Am I right with this idea or have I made a mistake somewhere with this plan?

I didn’t say I had no savings or anything. This is just a way I thought I could cheat the system a little and pay less for a new phone which I want and can afford. I’m just trying to get myself a good deal
